Russian fans of U.S. singer, songwriter, and dancer Michael Jackson are collecting money to unveil a three-meter-tall monument to the late King of Pop, the project’s curator Svetlana Larina said on Wednesday.
So far, a group of fans has collected 300,000 rubles ($9,327) out of the 1 million ($31,000) rubles needed to erect the monument.
Young Russian artist Maxim Popov has already designed the statue, featuring a dancing Michael Jackson with his hand raised. The statue will be cast in bronze. It’s yet unclear as to where exactly the monument will be placed.
Michael Jackson died at a Los Angeles hospital in 2010 after suffering cardiac arrest and going into a coma.
