Former world chess champion Garry Kasparov isn’t the only Russian to be accused of biting a police officer.

A 21-year-old resident of Novosibirsk Region was charged on Thursday with biting two of them: one in the hand and the other in the back.

The trouble started when the suspect refused to pay the fare for a taxi ride.

“The passenger was drunk and behaving inappropriately” and threatening violence, the police report said. The taxi driver alerted his dispatcher, who called the police.

When the police arrived at the scene, the passenger refused to cooperate. As the police were hauling him into their vehicle, he bit them.

The man has been charged with “petty hooliganism.” An investigation into a resisting arrest charge is continuing.

Kasparov had been accused of biting a policeman’s finger while being detained at an August 17 demonstration, a charge the chess grandmaster described as "hogwash."

All the charges against Kasparov were dismissed at an August 24 court hearing.
