The players at FC Tomsk, the Russian second-tier club of ex-Scotland striker Garry O'Connor, may boycott a prestigious Russian Cup tie against CSKA Moscow due to unpaid wages.

Midfielder Renat Sabitov told R-Sport on Tuesday that wage arrears going back to mid-June were forcing players to take action in the September 26 clash at their home ground in Siberia.

"It is true, there are salary delays for three months and bonuses for 10 league games and one cup game against Sibir," he said. "We may boycott the game against CSKA."

Earlier, captain Sergey Omelyanchuk told R-Sport acknowledged the salary problems but insisted they would not impact team performance.

FC Tomsk, relegated from the Premier League last season, tops the Russian second tier after 11 games.

O'Connor signed on a two-year contract with Tomsk in July after becoming a free agent when his contract at Scottish side Hibernian expired. He was sent off on his debut but scored his first goal earlier this month.

Tomsk have been in financial despair since 2009, and were only saved from dissolution when then-Prime Minister Vladimir Putin intervened and oil giants Rosneft and Gazprom Neft became co-owners of the club.
