Russia was drawn to play against Britain in the second tier of the Davis Cup next spring.
Russia, a two-time champion, was relegated from the elite World Group for the first time last weekend with a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Brazil.
The British were on the brink of demotion to the lowest division Davis Cup group but five straight wins put Leon Smith's team back on track for a shot at entering the World Group.
The tie is a second-round match because both received first-round byes. It will be played in Britain on the weekend of April 5-7.
Russia is the top seed of the group, which also includes Poland, Slovenia, Finland, Denmark, Romania, Ukraine and Slovakia, the Netherlands, South Africa and Sweden.
