Brazil midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso has switched from Santos to cross-town rivals Sao Paulo, the latter team said Friday.
There were reports that Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan lost a bidding war to the Brazilian side for the talented 22 year old earlier this month.
“I'm very happy. A huge joy. A wish fulfilled,” Ganso said on the Sao Paulo website.
“Since Sao Paulo showed interest in signing me, my mind was immediately set to it.”
“I appreciate the interest of other clubs.”
Ganso made his debut for Santos in 2008, going on to score 36 goals in 161 appearances.
He declined a contract extension deal in July.
Ganso has earned eight caps for Brazil and was in the Olympic squad that claimed silver at the London Games.
Sao Paulo are currently fifth in Brazilian championship with 39 points from 25 games, while Santos are 11th with 33 points.
