The international Circle of Light festival is taking place in Moscow for the second time. The multi-colored show continues through October 2.

The organizers say that all the various shows give Muscovites the chance to see their city in a whole new light, as well as to experience the very latest in light technology.

This year the number of venues the festival is using has increased and it is now taking place on Red Square…

… on Manezhnaya Square (see photo), in Gorky Park, on Krymsky Embankment, including the Central House of Artists, in Muzeon art park, and in the Tretyakov Gallery.

Each venue has its own program with specific light displays.

The opening ceremony on Friday in Red Square included the large-scale Energy of Life multimedia show.

The audience saw how civilization developed, starting from the big bang and ending with today’s world.

Over 1,000 people from 25 different countries have worked on the festival’s programs.

Eighteen other festivals responded to the invitation to take part in the show. Of the 12 that in their own programs, eight are taking an active part in the programs. The events are being judged by representatives of major international associations, including the Lighting Urban Community International (LUCI) and the European Landscape Contractors Association (ELCA).
