The UN World Food Program (WFP) will send 800,000 euros worth of food supplies to Tajikistan, WFP press service official Malokhat Shabanova said on Wednesday.
A part of the aid will go to people who have suffered as a result of the past 12 months, in particular an extremely severe winter, she said.
“Many households have lost cattle and crops due to heavy snowfalls and early frost,” she said.
The WFP will provide two-month food supplies to 85,000 residents of Tajikistan, including wheat flower, vegetable oil, beans and iodized salt, the official added.
The WFP grant was funded by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Office (ECHO).
