Eleven people were killed and one remained missing when two ships collided in central China's Hunan Province, Xinhua reported on Saturday.
The two ships collided on the Yuanjiang River Friday afternoon.
The search for the missing person is ongoing, the local government said.
A ship carrying 22 people collided with an unloaded sand carrier near Yuanjiang City.
All the 22 onboard the ship fell into the river. Rescuers have salvaged 21 people, 11 of them confirmed dead, Yuanjiang government spokesman Liu Lanping said.
