Stanley Cup-winning wing Drew Miller made a surprise move to Britain in the NHL lockout after joining Scottish team the Braehead Clan on Monday.
Detroit Red Wings player Miller will debut for the Clan against local rivals the Dundee Stars on Friday in a league where attendances are regularly below 1,000.
“I am happy to have signed a contract with the Clan and I look forward to getting over there and working with the guys,” Miller said on the team website.
Miller has scored 77 points in a 280-game NHL career and won the Stanley Cup in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks.
He joins Carolina Hurricanes forward Anthony Stewart in Britain’s Elite League after Stewart moved to the Nottingham Panthers last month.
