The exhibition marks two key anniversaries for the designer: 50 years of creative activity, and 30 years since the founding of his Moscow Fashion House. He selected outfits from his collections spanning the last 30 years especially for the retrospective.
“We got everything ready for the opening of the exhibition within a week; we got the outfits out of storage within four days. The collection chiefly comprises classic models,” Slava Zaitsev said at the opening.
The exhibition includes pieces from the collections: The Thousandth Anniversary of the Christianisation of Russia, Recollections of the Future, Russian Seasons in Paris, Origins and the prêt-a-porter de luxe line.
The designer plans to turn “a small portion” of the collections he created over those five decades into a larger exhibition, including paintings and photographs as well as clothes.
