Second-half goals gave Zenit St. Petersburg a 2-0 win over Mordovia Saransk on Tuesday, sending the league champions into the quarterfinals of the Russian Cup.

Veteran midfielder Sergei Semak diverted home a cross from Brazil star Hulk on 65 minutes to give the visitors the lead.

Italian left back Domenico Criscito sealed it in injury time with a delightful chip.

Croatian midfielder Tomislav Duimovic came closest for newly promoted Mordovia, swiveling in the box and smashing an effort off the top side of the crossbar in the first half.

Zenit were missing key duo Alexander Kerzhakov and Roman Shirokov through injury.

In the quarterfinals, Zenit face the winners of the FC Kuban vs. FC Krasnodar derby, which is later Tuesday. David Bentley's FC Rostov also host Spartak Moscow later.

Earlier, a goal from Alexei Bazanov gave Yenisei Krasnoyarsk a 1-0 home victory over SKA-Energia Khabarovsk in a clash of two second-tier sides.

Yenisei face either CSKA Moscow or FC Tyumen in the quarterfinal.
