MOSCOW, November 8 (R-Sport) – Roger Federer advanced to the semifinals of the season-ending World Tour Finals on Thursday with a straight-sets win over David Ferrer.
The Swiss world No. 2 improved his immaculate record against the Spaniard with a 6-4, 7-6(5) victory, his 14th over Ferrer.
The 17-time Grand Slam champion put an end to Ferrer’s 11-match winning streak and became the first player to qualify for the last four.
On Tuesday, Federer’s eclipsed Czech legend Ivan Lendl's record of 39 wins at the World Tour Finals as he beat Serbia’s Janko Tipsarevic.
Tipsarevic plays Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro later Thursday.
