HAVANA, November 9 (RIA Novosti) - Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina has declared three days of mourning for the victims of a recent deadly earthquake.

The death toll in the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Guatemala on Wednesday has risen to at least 52 people, the president said. Earlier it was reported that 48 people were killed by the quake.

Twenty-two people are listed as missing. Several hundred were injured and over 3,000 evacuated.

Molina told reporters during his visit to the disaster area in the San Marcos state on the border with Mexico on Wednesday that dozens of homes were destroyed.

According to Guatemalan officials, it was the most devastating earthquake in the country since 1976, when a 7.5-magnitude quake killed more than 23,000 people.
