MOSCOW, November 9 (R-Sport) - Liverpool were unlucky to go down to a 1-0 defeat to Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League on Thursday, Liverpool's young striker Adam Morgan has said.
Anzhi's Lacina Traore scored the crucial goal in Thursday's game with a lob on the stroke of half-time, while a largely second-string Liverpool side struggled to finish the few clear-cut chances they created.
"I don't feel terrible. I thought the boys played well, I thought we were a bit unlucky to get the result we did, a bit of a mistake for the goal," Morgan said.
The Anzhi match gave Morgan a rare chance to start for his boyhood club, and the academy graduate said he was overjoyed despite the defeat.
"For me, myself to get a chance, it was fantastic and I put my all into it," he said, adding that he felt privileged to play against an Anzhi side boasting the likes of Samuel Eto'o.
"It's always good to play against the best players in the world."
Anzhi now top the group with Liverpool second and two games remaining. Liverpool are on a four-game winless run since beating Anzhi 1-0 at home last month.
