MOSCOW, November 10 (R-Sport) - The Czech Republic beat Russia 2-1 on Saturday to seal victory in the first stage of the Euro Hockey Tour.
The Czechs did the damage in the first period with two power-play goals scored by Dynamo Minsk wing Zbynek Irgl and Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jakub Kindl.
Ak Bars Kazan defenseman Evgeny Medvedev pulled one back in the second period, but Russia failed to find an equalizer to take the game to overtime.
The Czech Republic won the first stage, known as the Karjala Tournament, with three wins in three games.
Finland plays Sweden later Saturday in the final game of the Finnish round of the Tour.
