Russian Premier League games planned for December should be postponed, Rubin Kazan coach Kurban Berdyev said Sunday.

KAZAN, Russia, November 11 (R-Sport) - Russian Premier League games planned for December should be postponed, Rubin Kazan coach Kurban Berdyev said Sunday.

Two rounds of games have been scheduled to take place partly or completely in December, the first time that the Russian league has braved winter weather to play in that month.

“I’m for the postponement of matches from December,” Berdyev said.

“Everyone understands why, the players and the teams. These two rounds need to be postponed. You can’t play football at that time.”

The league calendar traditionally ran from March to October to avoid the winter, and this season is the first time the league is using a Western European-style autumn-spring calendar.

Berdyev’s Rubin are fifth in the league table after 15 games and have secured a place in the knockout stages of the Europa League with two group games remaining.
