MOSCOW, November 11 (R-Sport) - Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Alexander Samedov is to miss Russia’s friendly with the United States on Wednesday after pulling an ankle ligament, his club side Lokomotiv Moscow said Sunday.
Samedov has played in four of Russia’s five games since Fabio Capello became coach in July.
He was substituted at half-time in Lokomotiv’s 1-1 draw with Anzhi Makhachkala in the Russian Premier League on Sunday.
“According to the results of a medical examination which Samedov underwent at the end of the match, strained knee ligaments were discovered,” the club said in a website statement.
“From tomorrow, the midfielder will start a recovery process. Alexander’s recovery is expected to take around a week.”
Samedov could return in time for Lokomotiv’s away game against Krylya Sovetov on November 19.
Russia face the U.S. in the southern city of Krasnodar on Wednesday.
Set-piece specialist Samedov has six caps for Russia and has been in good form for Lokomotiv this season, setting up six goals in 15 games.
