MOSCOW, November 14 (RIA Novosti) - Three people were killed and 20 injured on Wednesday in a gas leak at a metals plant in the Urals, the Emergencies and Civil Defense Ministry said.
The leak was contained and posed no danger to residential areas around the plant, the ministry said.
Earlier reports said 105 kilograms of chlorine had leaked at the Avisma titanium manganese alloy manufacturing facility in the city of Berezniki, Perm Territory.
However, VSMPO-Avisma later said the gas was not chlorine, without specifying what in fact the substance was.
The emergencies ministry said two of the injured were in critical condition.
VSMPO-Avisma Corporation is the world’s largest titanium producer, controlling one-third of the world's titanium market.
