MOSCOW, November 30 (R-Sport) - Several busloads of Zenit St. Petersburg fans are stuck in blizzards on the federal highway to Moscow and will not make Friday's showdown with Spartak at the capital's Luzhniki Stadium, the club said.
Zenit have promised fans their money back after snowdrifts entering the city of Veliky Novgorod, less than one quarter of the way along the 700 kilometer route, proved too deep to pass.
"A minimum of three buses with Zenit fans on board have been waiting outside Veliky Novgorod, and at least that many have already turned back to St. Petersburg," a statement on Zenit's website said.
Winter hit European Russia with unexpected force this week, with some regions including Moscow receiving up to a month's worth of snow in just a few days.
Kick-off at Luzhniki is at 2030 local time (1630GMT).
