MOSCOW, December 1 (R-Sport) – The Presidential Heraldry Council of Russia has registered the flag for the 2013 Summer Universiade, the event website announced Saturday.
The 27th university games will take place from July 6 to 17 in the central city of Kazan.
The certificate for the flag was transferred to Kazan 2013 organizers on Saturday during a ceremony in the capital of the Tatarstan region.
Kazan 2013 first deputy director Azat Kadyrov hailed the registration as "recognition of the importance of our project, of its historical significance."
"As the chief official symbol of the Games, the flag, we hope, will proudly fly over Kazan, where we will do our best to host the best Universiade in history," he added.
The flag features the Universiade logo and a stylized tulip drawn in five colors on white background.
