December 6 (RIA Novosti) – A US man was arrested after police in the state of Maine said this week that he called them to complain that a prostitute he hired “shorted him by 10 minutes.”
Police in the town of Old Orchard Beach said Scott Pipher, 34, called and told them that the woman he hired did “not give him his money’s worth” and cut their time together by 10 minutes.
Pipher has been charged with engaging a prostitute.
The police department said Pipher actually made his complaint back on March 25, but that officials wanted to launch an investigation into his claims about hiring a prostitute before making any arrests in the case.
“We didn’t want to go ahead and charge him, because we thought he would call her and maybe make her aware the police were looking for her,” said police Sgt. Gerard Hamilton, in a phone interview on Thursday with RIA Novosti.
Through the investigation the police department was able to locate Pipher’s alleged prostitute, Krystal Harmon, via the website craigslist.com, where Hamilton said the 28-year-old had listed her escort services.
Harmon was arrested and charged with engaging in prostitution. Another woman not related to Pipher’s case was also arrested as a result of the investigation and charged with engaging in prostitution.
