MOSCOW, December 7 (RIA Novosti) – Russian state-run lottery Gosloto said on Friday that the winner of an 87-million ruble (2.8 million) jackpot has still not come forward but has 180 days to claim his prize.
The winner, a resident of the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, bought the lucky ticket just a few hours before the December 1 drawing.
“We hope the winner’s silence is not linked to shock caused by this happy turn of events,” Gosloto, Russia’s leading lottery operator, said in a press release.
Earlier this week, a EuroMillions $102 million jackpot went unclaimed in the United Kingdom when the deadline expired on December 5. It is thought to be the biggest unclaimed lottery prize in history.
