MOSCOW, December 12 (R-Sport) - Spartak Moscow are to send full-back Evgeny Makeev to Germany next week for tests on a knee injury, the Russian club said Wednesday.
Makeev played the full 90 minutes of Spartak’s 1-0 league win over Rubin Kazan on Monday, but club doctors diagnosed him afterwards with a damaged meniscus.
“According to the results of the medical examination, it will become clear if Evgeny needs an operation or if doctors will limit themselves to non-invasive methods,” the club said.
Makeev, 23, has played 15 league games for Spartak this season and played seven of the team’s eight games in their Champions League campaign.
He is widely seen as one of Russia’s most promising young right-backs and won his only cap so far against Armenia last year in a Euro 2012 qualifier.
