MOSCOW, December 25 (RIA Novosti) - A police officer has saved an elderly man in a house fire in Russia’s southwest seconds before the building’s roof collapsed, the Russian Interior Ministry reported on Tuesday.
The ministry, which did not provide the exact date of the incident, said Criminal Investigation Department officer Nikolai Kravtsov was working to solve a crime in Russia’s Belgorod Region on the border with Ukraine when he saw the fire in a house on a nearby street.
Kravtsov got into the house through a broken window and safely evacuated the 79-year-old pensioner who, it turned out, had returned to his house for his documents but failed to find the way out in thick smoke.
