MOSCOW, January 4 (R-Sport) - Three goals from NHL MVP Evgeni Malkin gave his lockout team Metallurg Magnitogorsk a 3-0 win over Traktor Chelyabinsk in the KHL on Friday.
The Pittsburgh Penguins center struck once in each period as Metallurg returned to the top of the Eastern Conference with its fourth straight win, leaving Traktor fourth in the East after its second defeat in a row.
All three goals featured assists from KHL top-scorer Sergei Mozyakin, who moves to 66 points from 38 games this season, with his 38 assists leaving him two short of Malkin’s league-leading 40.
Later Friday, CSKA Moscow hosts Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, before SKA St. Petersburg plays Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, Dynamo Moscow takes on Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod and Slovenia’s Slovan Bratislava plays Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.
