MOSCOW, January 7 (RIA Novosti) - The Philippine Navy said a US-made BQM-74E drone was found floating off the Ticao island in the eastern Philippines, the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) reported on Monday.
Capt. Rommel Jason Galang, deputy commander of the Naval Forces in Southern Luzon, said the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was discovered by fishermen, who initially mistook it for a bomb.
Navy officials said they have no information so far about when the aircraft crashed and what mission it was performing.
The BQM-74e is a turbojet-powered aerial target drone, used to emulate enemy anti-ship cruise missiles and simulate aircraft in air-to-air combat training.
