MOSCOW, January 8 (RIA Novosti) - Iran’s electricity exports will increase 47 percent by March, Press TV reported on Tuesday.
Power exports will rise to 10 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) during the current calendar year ending in March, Iran’s Energy Minister Majid Namjou said.
Iran currently exports electricity to Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey and it is also planning to export to Syria and Lebanon through Iraq’s power grid, he added.
Iran can export up to 1,000 megawatts of electricity to Iraq and 500 MW to Syria.
By March 2015, Iran will boost its generation capacity by 25 gigawatts to 73 gigawatts, the minister said.
