Hoax Caller Triggers Bomb Alert on Vilnius-Moscow Flights

Vilnius airport in Lithuania was disrupted on Thursday after a hoax caller warned of a bomb threat to Moscow-bound flights, the Delfi portal reported.

VILNIUS, January 10 (RIA Novosti) - Vilnius airport in Lithuania was disrupted on Thursday after a hoax caller warned of a bomb threat to Moscow-bound flights, the Delfi portal reported.

An unidentified man called the police in the morning to say there could be a bomb on board a Vilnius-Moscow flight.

There are a total of four flights to Moscow on Thursday. One arrived at Moscow's Vnukovo airport at 8:15 a.m. Moscow time and another landed at Sheremetyevo airport at 8:33 a.m.

No bombs were found on board either plane, police said.

The two other planes are due to arrive in Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports later in the day.

Meanwhile, Lithuanian police said the man who had phoned in the bomb scare was detained, adding he was heavily intoxicated.
