ROSTOV-ON-DON, January 22 (RIA Novosti) - Police have helped a passenger recover over 1.2 million rubles ($40,000) she left on a train bound from the Russian capital Moscow to the southern city of Vladikavkaz, the Russian Interior Ministry reported on Tuesday.

A married couple from Georgia, who live in Russia, sold nearly everything they had to get money for the treatment of their relative, the husband’s father, who had had a stroke.

The woman put the money inside a belt, but left it in a train toilet and discovered the loss only when they already got off the train.

Police officers questioned everyone who got off the train after the couple, and found out that a woman named Indira had possibly taken the belt. They paid a visit to her home and the woman gave them the belt with the entire sum, which the officers returned to the woman who had lost it.

Police saw no elements of a crime in Indira’s actions. No charges were brought against her.
