MEXICO, February 2 (RIA Novosti) - Rescuers have ended their search for survivors of Thursday’s explosion in a skyscraper complex that houses headquarters of Mexico’s oil monopoly Pemex, local authorities said on Saturday.
The blast killed 33 people and left 121 injured, five of them critically.
On Friday, Mexican president Pena Nieto visited the hospital where the injured were being treated and ordered the Pemex leadership to provide all possible support to the families of those killed and injured.
The president also urged citizens and media to avoid speculating about the causes of the blast unless a team of experts makes its conclusion.
The explosion took place in the basement of an auxiliary building of the skyscraper complex on Thursday. The main floor of the building was heavily damaged by the blast with windows shattered several floors up.
A three-day nationwide mourning was declared in the country on Friday.
