MOSCOW, February 9 (RIA Novosti) – A Cairo court on Saturday ordered the YouTube popular video sharing site to be blocked for hosting the controversial film Innocence of Muslims, Egypt’s state media have reported.
Judge Hassouna Tawfiq ordered the ministries of communication and investment to block YouTube, owned by Google, for a month after the site refused to remove the video clip, which mocks Islam's prophet, Egypt’s MENA news agency reported.
The 14-minute trailer to "Innocence of Muslims" was originally posted on YouTube last June. It attracted little attention until September, when portions of the trailer were broadcast by a television network in Egypt.
The US privately produced movie “Innocence of Muslims” has triggered widespread protests in the Muslim world. In Libya, they led to an attack on the US consulate that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other American embassy staff dead.
