Space monitors captured images of the flaring meteorite shower in the lower atmosphere. According to preliminary information from the Russian Emergencies Ministry, a huge rock entered the Earth’s atmosphere and scattered over the Urals region.
The flashes and fireball from the meteorite were not only witnessed in Chelyabinsk, but also reported from Yekaterinburg and Tyumen, as well as the Kurgan region and Kazakhstan’s northern territory of Kostanaya.
The meteorite shower may be part of an asteroid that is to pass by Earth later on Friday.
