Caracas is a densely populated city. Its official population numbers over three million, but in reality, over 4.5 million people live here – about 15 percent of the country’s total population.
Most of the city’s inhabitants live in slum barrios (neighborhoods), far from the city center and other interesting sights. Tourists rarely visit these districts.
But these days, all capital and other city dwellers, regardless of social status and income level, commemorate Hugo Chavez, who died on March 5 at the age of 58.
Alcohol sales and carrying weapons were not allowed during this time.
