NOVO-OGARYOVO, March 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has supported a public organization’s idea to create a textbook on Russia’s military history for high school.
“Such a book would be useful for both young people and adults,” Putin told members of the Russian Military History Society who had come forward with the move.
“This is very important,” the president said Thursday, adding that he would give relevant instructions to the Culture and Education ministries. “The country should have its heroes.”
Russia’s Imperial Military History Society was founded in 1907 and existed until the 1917 revolution. The organization was recently re-established in Russia. It held its founding congress Thursday.
The state will render all possible support to military-patriotic clubs, Putin assured Society members.
