MOSCOW, March 17 (RIA Novosti) – China’s newly-elected President Xi Jinping has pledged a resolute fight against corruption at all levels, Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday.
General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping was elected Chinese president Thursday morning at the session of the 12th National People's Congress.
“We must resolutely reject formalism, bureaucratism, hedonism and extravagance, and resolutely fight against corruption and other misconduct in all manifestations,” Xi said addressing a closing meeting of the country's annual legislative session.
Last October, the discipline watchdog of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said in a report that over 3,500 CPC officials were found guilty of illegally receiving 392 million yuan ($62.7 million) in bribes in 2010-2011.
