KIEV, March 17 (RIA Novosti) - Several thousand of people rallied in the streets of the western Ukrainian city of Lviv on Saturday demanding the resignation of President Viktor Yanukovych, Ukraine’s opposition party Batkyvshchyna said.
“Thousands of people want changes and say ‘No’ to Yanukovych. Thousands of people want to live in another country and say they are not afraid of the current authorities,” opposition leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.
Opposition leaders announced on Tuesday a two-month all-nation event “Rise Ukraine!” that will see protest rallies all across the country demanding the resignation of Yanukovych.
The rallies were already held in Vinnitsa, Uzhgorod and Lviv, and the oppositionists plan the main and concluding protest rally for May 18 in the country’s capital of Kiev.
