MOSCOW, March 18 (RIA Novosti) - Two inmates have made a daring helicopter escape from a prison in Canada’s eastern province of Quebec but one was later arrested, local media reported.
The inmates, Benjamin Hudon-Barbeau and Danny Provencal, climbed a rope into a hovering helicopter Sunday, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported citing the authorities.
Police have confirmed they detained Hudon-Barbeau and two other suspects, without indicating who they were and what role they played in the escape. Provencal was located later, and police set up a perimeter around his possible location.
The three arrestees were being transported to the nearest police station. They are to appear in court Monday.
The helicopter was tracked down some 85 kilometers (53 miles) from the St. Jerome prison that the escapees fled, but its pilot was the only one still at the scene. He was taken to a regional hospital and will be questioned later.
