NOVOKUZNETSK, March 29 (RIA Novosti) – The body of a miner who went missing during a flood at a coal mine in southwestern Siberia's Kemerovo Region was found early on Friday, a regional administration spokesman said.
A total of 143 people were working underground when water flooded into the mine late on Tuesday, apparently because of construction work, according to the local administration. Four miners could not be located, while the others escaped safely. One body was recovered on Thursday morning.
“Another miner has been found. The body is currently being brought to the surface,” the Kemerovo Region administration spokesman said.
Work at the mine has been suspended, while rescuers continue to pump water from the flooded sections.
