Timber-felling and processing enterprises have the technology and equipment to put out forest fires, and their staff undergo special training in this sphere.
The tasks of the forestry enterprises also include reforestation. Forests can die out as a result of forest fires and other natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, damage caused by animals and violations of forestry planting techniques.
Reforestation techniques include sowing seeds and planting saplings. The majority of the reforestation work is carried out in "cleansed" areas, where logging and fires have taken place.
The forests of the Novosibirsk Region occupy an overall area of 6,433 hectares. The total volume of felled timber comes to 512.4 million cubic meters.
