WASHINGTON, April 5 (RIA Novosti) – In the US gambling and entertainment mecca of Las Vegas, couples can get married at a drive-through, at an Elvis Presley-themed chapel and on an ersatz tropical island.
Now, add a fast-food restaurant to the list of Vegas venues where lovers can tie the knot.
Iowa couple Nancy Levandowski and Steve Keller exchanged vows on Wednesday in a Denny’s pancake restaurant.
The couple, both in their 50s, met online around three years ago and won a lottery to be the first to be hitched at the pancake joint. The restaurant opened in December and is the first Denny’s to include a wedding chapel.
Wedding guests reportedly sat on benches in the diner’s booths, and the restaurant went about its usual business, serving patrons in the main dining area, as the couple exchanged vows in a chapel built inside in the downtown Las Vegas diner.
The reception was held at the diner’s bar with “pancakes and beer and Denny’s party favors,” the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
Ceremonies at the Denny’s chapel start at $95, which includes Denny's T-shirts and a pancake wedding cake.
A marriage license costs an extra $60 and is available almost immediately from any one of a number of marriage license bureaus in Las Vegas.
