WASHINGTON, April 18 (RIA Novosti) – US federal authorities on Thursday released video and images of two men they suspect of involvement in Monday’s bombing at the Boston Marathon that killed three people and wounded more than 170 others.
Surveillance cameras captured footage of the two men, identified by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as “Suspect 1” and “Suspect 2,” carrying backpacks as they walked near one another along the marathon route before Monday’s attack.
“Somebody out there knows these individuals,” Richard DesLauriers, the special agent in charge of the FBI office in Boston, told a news conference Thursday evening.
Suspect 1 was wearing a white hat, while Suspect 2 was wearing a black hat, DesLauriers said. Suspect two was seen planting the explosive device “within minutes” before it detonated, he added.
Both suspects are at large and considered “armed and dangerous,” DesLauriers said.
“No one should approach them, no one should attempt to apprehend them except law enforcement,” he told the news conference.
