MOSCOW, April 19 (RIA Novosti) – Russian aerobatic display teams the Swifts and the Russian Knights will join a host of military aircraft in the Victory Day parade on May 9 in Moscow, Maj. Gen. Alexander Kharchevsky said on Friday.
“Tactical aviation will be represented at the parade by 10 new Su-34 fighter bombers, modernized Su-27 and MiG-29 fighters, and the famous 'nine' – the Russian Knights and the Strizhi aerobatics teams,” Kharchevsky, who heads the Lipetsk Military Pilot Training Center, told RIA Novosti.
A total of 43 aircraft, including new Ka-52 and Mi-28 helicopters, will take part in the parade, the general said.
The Strizhi currently fly the MiG-29 Fulcrum fighter planes, while the Russian Knights fly the Su-27 Flanker fighter aircraft.
Both teams were founded in 1991 and took part in hundreds of airshows in Russia and abroad.
