MOSCOW, April 22 (RIA Novosti) - All workers trapped by a ceiling collapse in a mine in southwestern Siberia’s Kemerovo region, were safely taken to surface on Sunday evening, a police source told RIA Novosti.
The accident occurred at the Zarechnaya mine in the town of Polysayevo at 17.15 Moscow time (13.15 GMT) on Sunday. A total of 127 people were working underground when the accident occurred, 13 of them were trapped. The rescue effort involved some 60 personnel.
"All miners were taken to surface when the rubble was cleared. According to preliminary reports, no deaths or injuries occurred,” the source said.
The Zarechnaya coal company which owns the mine said the collapse took place in the zone where coal production was due to be launched, and the accident did not affect the mine’s main coal mining areas.
