First Nighttime Rehearsal of Victory Parade Held on Red Square

This year’s first nighttime rehearsal of the Victory Parade, which will be held on May 9 to mark victory in World War II, took place on Thursday on Red Square. The rehearsal, which began at 10 pm and ended late at night, involved 11,000 troops and 101 items of military equipment.

A number of streets in the city were closed for the rehearsal, causing traffic jams to skyrocket to their maximum level, rated at 10 out of 10.

The parade commander, Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces Col. Gen. Vladimir Chirkin, told journalists on Red Square that the participating units had shown a good level of training but that there was still room for improvement. There is still time for the troops to polish their performance: The next nighttime rehearsals will be held in Moscow on April 29 and May 3.
