LONDON, May 10 (R-Sport) – The Euroleague may abandon plans to host next year’s Final Four in London and has other candidates in mind, the league’s president and CEO Jordi Bertomeu said Friday.

A two-year contract to hold the Final Four at London’s O2 arena was announced last year and the first edition takes place this weekend, but the league is considering letting its option for a second year lapse.

“We have to take the decision by the middle of June,” Bertomeu said.

He said the league was already looking at other locations, but declined to name them.

Ticket sales for this year’s Final Four are low compared to previous years and have been affected by the economic situation in Spain and Greece, Bertomeu said.

“I think the ticket sales have not been in the same speed of the last years,” he said.

“We had to take into account that three of the four teams here come from markets with some difficulties in the economy, which never happened in the past, and the Russians have some problems with visas. But in the end, I think we will manage to solve everything.”

On Friday, Russia’s CSKA Moscow plays Greece’s Olympiacos in the first semifinal, and the second game pits together two Spanish rivals, Real Madrid and Barcelona. The final is Sunday.
