Russian instigators said on Saturday they have opened a criminal case against a controversial anti-drug center that is accused of having illegally imprisoned a man, who was not a drug addict.

MOSCOW, May 11 (RIA Novosti) – Russian instigators said on Saturday they have opened a criminal case against a controversial anti-drug center that is accused of having illegally imprisoned a man, who was not a drug addict.

The Russian Investigative Committee said the center, City Without Drugs (Gorod Bez Narkotikov), that is treating drug addicts in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg, held a 26-year-old rapper, who was not taking drugs, against his will.

The man, who was released from the center on Friday, turned to police claiming he had been imprisoned by the center for almost three weeks at the request of his parents who did not share his “passion for music.”

According to investigators, another nine patients, all of them women, were illegally held by the center’s head Yevgeny Malenkin and another employee Igor Shabalin between 2011 and 2012.

One of the patients, Tatyana Kazantseva, 29, died after being taken to a local hospital following treatment for drug addiction. Local investigators said they found injuries on her body that were inflicted before she died.
