Russia will exhibit its modernized T-90S main battle tank along with a score of other advanced military equipment at an arms exhibition in Peru, Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport said.

LIMA (Peru), May 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will exhibit its modernized T-90S main battle tank along with a score of other advanced military equipment at an arms exhibition in Peru, Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport said.

The SITDEF PERU-2013 defense expo will take place in the Peruvian capital, Lima, on May 15-19. Rosoboronexport and 11 Russian defense companies will be among the most prominent exhibitors at the event.

“The T-90S tank [manufactured by the Uralvagonzavod company] will be the star of the Russian exhibit,” said Sergei Ladygin, the head of Rosoboronexport delegation at the show.

Ladygin said that the Peruvian military officials have expressed interest in the T-90S tank while visiting Russia last year.

The modified T-90S is fitted with an increased power multi-fuel 1,130-h.p. diesel engine with gas turbine injection, which allows the vehicle to attain a top speed of over 60 km/h on the road and up to 45 km/h on rough terrain.

T-90S redesigned turret features a modernized 125-mm gun, new fire control, navigation and communications systems, and a remotely-controlled mounted 7.62-mm machine gun.

Other military equipment to be displayed at the Russian exhibit includes Tigr armored vehicles, Ural trucks, Igla portable air defense systems, and Mi-171 military transport helicopters.

Russia, the world's second largest arms exporter after the United States, has been eyeing Peru as a new lucrative addition to its Latin American customer list, which includes Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, and Ecuador.

Rosoboronexport sold $14.5 billion worth of weaponry to Latin American countries in the past 12 years, according to the company’s General Director Anatoly Isaykin.
