MOSCOW, May 20 (RIA Novosti) – Russian police killed two suspected militants and detained another in a special operation outside Moscow on Monday, preventing a terror attack in the capital, the National Antiterrorism Committee (NAK) said.
The special operation took place in the town of Orekhovo-Zuyevo in the Moscow Region, NAK said.
“The militants were besieged in the course of a special operation, but opened fire after they were asked to surrender. Two of them were killed and another detained as a result of a rapid shootout,” NAK said in a statement adding that one policemen was wounded in the operation.
The suspects were Russian citizens who had returned from the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region, where they underwent special training in preparing terror attacks, NAK said.
