MOSCOW, May 25 (RIA Novosti) – Apple's first computer, Apple-1, was sold at an auction in Germany on Saturday for around $670,000, a record price for this kind of machine, news reports said on Saturday.
The original Apple-1 machine is one from a series of first computers made in 1976 Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, Apple co-founders, at a garage. The rare computer was bought by an anonymous buyer from an Asian client, the Associated Press reported citing the auction house.
The report said that the final price was record $668,000, while the Time magazine said it was as high as $671,400.
The sold machine is one of six surviving Apple I computers still in working order. Last November, one of those was bought for $640,000 at the same Cologne’s Breker auction house, according to its web site.
