MOSCOW, May 30 (RIA Novosti) - Police in a Moscow suburb on Thursday detained a fire fighter suspected of throwing his nine-year-old daughter out of a fifth-floor window while drunk, a spokesman for the Moscow Region police department said.
The girl was found unconscious near an apartment block in the town of Zvenigorod on Thursday afternoon, the spokesman said, adding that “the girl was hospitalized, [and] her condition is said to be critical.”
He also said police have so far been unable to question the 35-year-old suspect because he was heavily intoxicated and "has presumably been on a drinking binge for several days.”
Doctors from a local hospital told Russian online tabloid Life News that the girl was diagnosed with a spinal fracture and a head injury.
Irina Gumennaya, a spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee’s Moscow Region department, said investigators are now examining the site of the incident to determine whether a criminal case should be launched on attempted murder charges.
